I Love Sojourn Music

Here’s a sneak peek at Sojourn Church’s upcoming new album. By the way, if you haven’t bought the previous 97 albums, go do that now.

Dearly We’re Bought

Listening to Red Mountain Music’s album, The Gadsby Project (2005). It’s awesome, Gospel-centered music from the Alabama worship cohort. You can find it on iTunes. Here’s the lyrics from one of my favorite songs right now, the first track from the album, Dearly We’re Bought:

Come raise your thankful voice,
Ye souls redeemed with blood;
Leave earth and all its toys
and mix no more with mud.

Dearly we’re bought, highly esteemed
Redeemed with Jesus’ blood, redeemed
Dearly we’re bought, highly esteemed
Redeemed with Jesus’ blood, redeemed

With heart, and soul and mind,
Exalt redeeming love;
Leave worldly cares behind,
And set your minds above.

Lift up your ravished eyes,
And view the glory given;
All lower things despised,
Ye citizens of heaven.

Be to this world as dead,
Alive to that to come;
Our life in Christ is hid,
Who soon shall call us home.

Dwell on that for a while.

Stream of Consciousness

Here’s a few thoughts from my head. Beware.

  • The first Harmony wedding is on the books! It went pretty smoothly yesterday….
  • Except I made everyone stand the whole time. I never let them sit down. Whoops! :)
  • Had a bit of spiritual warfare this morning. Not sure if it was me alone, or within the body, but it was definitely there. Started with worship and continued through the service. God still did His work and pierced hearts and minds.
  • It was awesome having Chris and Trish in service. Can’t wait till they come back to Greenville for good ;) .
  • Dan and Jen are married! Hope they’re having a great time in Myrtle Beach!
  • Looking forward to Echo Group tonight.
  • Stoked that the Cowboys lost today. The NFC East is anyone’s game still, even with the 5-1 Giants.
  • Looking forward to a couple of meetings this week.
  • What’s your role in rebuilding Greenville?
  • I am feeling People in Planes. Really feeling them. They’re coming to Carrboro soon for a concert. I will be there.

Our Worship Band Next Sunday

WOW! That’s Worship? - BluefishTV.com

When I Think About My Jesus….

This is the video from Sunday night. We gave all the married couples a gift certificate to a restaurant and told them to go on a date. Some of the rest of us watched their kids at an event we lovingly called “Trailer Park”. We grilled hot dogs, had crafts, played video games, reenacted David and Goliath, etc. But this….this is worship. With a capital “W”. You have to wait in the video when little Joey (sitting on the couch playing the conga) has his turn. Great stuff.

It’s a beautiful sound hearing kids sing about Jesus, to Jesus, for Jesus.

By the way, as I’m watching it again, it strikes me how different it is from our normal M.O. on Sunday ams, and even during Echo Group. It’s just another example of adapting the Gospel to culture, isn’t it? Kids culture is quite different, that’s for sure.

I really hope that the couples enjoyed their date night….I know that the rest of us enjoyed our night!
