New Harmony Bloggers

Just wanted to let you guys know of a couple new bloggers from Harmony out there. Brad recently joined the leadership team after Donald left to assist a new AG church plant in Williamston, NC. You can read Brad’s blog here: brad beamon.

Becca Mueffelmann has been with us since January, she’s got a great head on her shoulders, is growing in the Gospel, and come August, will be co-leading the Campus Echo group. You can read her blog here: a continuing story.

We Are Podcasting.

This is our second attempt. Check it out at HarmonyGreenville.com . You can find it at the bottom under “Podcast”. It will also be available on iTunes soon. We’ve started a series on Jonah. I will speak from Jonah on April 27th, May 25th,  June 22nd, and July 27th. On the weeks in between, I will be talking about how the lessons from Jonah apply to our lives practically. Should be interesting. Stay tuned.

On another note, our first attempt at podcasting is still on iTunes…still can’t get rid of it! :(

Quick Hits

  • Service went well. Attendance was better than previous weeks, and we had 5 people either meet Jesus for the first time, or wake up as a Christ-follower. We are still waiting on their stories so we know what went down.
  • I do know that one of them has been battling with cocaine and sex-addiction for quite some time. Hopefully, this will be the last time.
  • Setlist:
    • Jonah by Jimmy Reeves
    • Let Us Love and Sing and Wonder by Daniel Renstrom
    • Spring of Life by Kristian Stanfill
    • Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone) by Chris Tomlin
    • For Your Glory by Lee McDerment
  • Worship was awesome. I think this was the first service where the band really led people into worship, just based on their presence on stage. It was a great atmosphere, and they led us to the Throne of God. I’m stoked.
  • I spoke on Jonah 1. Got a good recording of it too (for the first time). We will be podcasting the Jonah series at least, and possible every message from here on out.
  • Next week, we’ll be talking about how Philippians 2:12-14 meshes with us not being able to obtain salvation ourselves.

This Great City

In Jonah, God tells Jonah twice to go to the “great city” of Nineveh. We, too, are called to a great city: Greenville, NC. Just wanted to highlight some things about G-Vegas.

  • Greenville is one of the top 100 places in America for children, according to America’s Promise Alliance.
  • Greenville is the entertainment, cultural, health, and commercial hub for Eastern NC.
  • Greenville has been named Sportstown USA for the state of NC.
  • The Greenville metropolitan area is 200K+ people.
  • The Brody School of Medicine is ranked sixth in the nation in terms of primary care, ninth in rural medicine, and eighth in family care.
  • Pitt County Memorial Hospital is currently building two major additions, valued at over $210 million.
  • ECU is adding a School of Dentistry, which will bring in even more people, jobs, and dollars to the surrounding area.
  • East Carolina University has been the fastest growing university in the UNC system for 5 straight years.
  • Forbes recently named Greenville one of the top 10 smaller metropolitan areas for doing business.
  • Named one of the best places to live by Money magazine.
  • Ranked #10 as a healthy city by Kiplinger’s.
  • One of the fastest growing urban centers in the state of NC, and Greenville will only continue to expand.

We truly live in a great city.

Quick Hits.

  • Last night, I came home around 10pm in order to go to bed, after watching a couple episodes of “Lost” with Miranda. Lo and behold, Pablo and Brian are pulling up…to practice. At first I was like “no way”, but I remember: where I live is not my house, it’s the church’s property. So I say what the heck, and let them go ahead. I fell asleep 15 minutes later to “Song of the Redeemed” on the drums (one of the harder songs Brian plays), and Pablo practicing a new song for this month. Only in church planting. Also some of the best sleep I’ve gotten in a while.
  • I’m digging my recent purchase of Spurgeon’s Morning/Evening devotions.
  • I’m feeling this month’s message, and having nailed down the messages from now until September. I’m usually not this behind…
  • Date night with Miranda tonight!!! I’m stoked. I love you babe. If you are currently dating/engaged/married to someone and are not taking them out at least once a week just for “you” time, please let me know where you live. It’s for a….Christmas card. Yeah, a Christmas card. Or a fork in the sternum.
  • Hit me up for lunch if you’re in town: 252-531-7276.
  • Please pray: I’m #6 in the Catalyst March Madness tourney.
