I’ve learned quite a few things since I’ve been preaching “full-time” (every week) for over a year now. Though still a rookie, one thing I’ve learned very quickly is this: be careful what you preach. Why do I say this? Because of one simple fact: What God determines for you to say on Sunday, God will test your practice of it from Monday-Saturday. For instance, if you’re preaching on faith in Christ no matter the circumstances, God will test your faith mightily those weeks leading up to it. If you’re preaching on repentance, God will convict your puny little heart of every monstrous and miniscule sin you’ve committed against Him. If you’re preaching on marriage, God will test your own marriage. You get the point. So when you’re plotting out your preaching schedule for the week/month/year/decade….listen to this still-wet-behind-the-ears preacher and be careful.
