Our Worship Pastor is Engaged

Pablo asked Jessica over the Turkey break to marry him. She said “yes”. Looking forward to their future…here in Greenville! Jessica is an awesome woman who has served overseas in Ireland (woot for Guinness), and is now serving in her hometown of Gastonia at her home church.

Pablo, as you know, is the “Harmony Hombre”. He does an incredible job leading us in worship and in spiritual disciplines (the man prays like no one’s business).

Pray that they both find jobs here in the Emerald City, so that they can remain on mission with us here in Greenville.

Turkey-Week Thoughts

Here’s some thoughts:

  • Haven’t blogged in a while. It was down, due to my host changing servers over. Kind of scary for a moment, thought I lost all of my previous data (posts, etc.)
  • This past Sunday was awesome! We had a great gathering (though I was preaching with a migraine), and an awesome Harmony Thanksgiving! You guys are freaks! For those of you who missed it, we had plenty of food for everyone, a packed house, the 24 two-hour special, and a dry-erase board full of what we’re thankful for.
  • As a reminder, there is no church gathering or Echo Groups this coming Sunday…enjoy your time with your family! We don’t want anyone to feel any pressure at all that they have to be in town on Sunday for church…that’s not what Church is about!
  • Miranda and I are headed to South Carolina to visit with my family, sans Abby. Pray for Miranda, I thought she would cry when Pablo took Abby…
  • I’ve got a head cold still…since Saturday night. Pray it would disappear soon…
  • I’m so freaking stoked for our Christmas series, A Christmas Revolution. Justin will be teaching on the Incarnation, Clay will be teaching on the Indwelling, and I’m wrapping up the series with Infiltration. Awesome stuff.
  • Miranda and I are headed to her grandmother’s house tonight for Thanksgiving. It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

Happy Turkey Week!

Wow.

Questions Worth Answering

Spurgeon this morning talked to me about foolish questions vs. wise questions. Questions not worth dwelling on would include those questions of religious ceremony, doctrine that is of lesser importance (ie: middle knowledge [guilty recently]), and other issues on which Scripture is silent. Instead, here are some questions worth thinking about:

  • Do I believe in Jesus as Savior and Lord?
  • Am I renewed by the Spirit in the mind, soul, body, and heart?
  • Am I chasing fter the things of God or of man?
  • Do I have idols in my life?
  • Am I growing in grace?
  • Am I adequately serving the Church with my gifts?
  • Does my life make Jesus look beautiful?
  • Am I awaiting the return of Jesus as a servant does his master?
  • What more can I do for Jesus?

There’re some questions worth answering.

Wolves in Sheep’s Clothing

One of my spiritual gifts is discernment. I often have supernatural insight into the nature of situations and into the intentions of people. There are often people with evil intentions that hang around baby churches, looking to devour it and it’s people. Early on in Harmony history, I pointed one out, and he’s no longer around, to put it bluntly. He got to see how polite I am. :)

But recently, I blew it. What I thought would be a good situation turned out to be the devil in disguise. Even against the Church with Help, the Devil is still a mighty adversary, a defeated adversary, but a powerful one.

My takeaway is this: we must constantly be on the lookout for enemies in our midst. Wolves in sheep’s clothing. They are out to do nothing but disrupt the flock…and ultimately eat sheep.

We shouldn’t send them to other flocks. The only answer to a wolf in the pasture is a gun.

[Disclaimer: I’m not advocating shooting people, but if someone is eating the flock…I understand.]
