All My Books Pay Off

I entered a contest over at Challies.Com, and won a $50 gift certificate to Westminster Books. Now I get more books! My question to you….what books should I purchase? What would you get from Westminster Books (link) with $50?

Quick Hits: June 18, 2008

Here’s some Twitteresque snippets from inside the wacky world of my cerebrum:

  • I loved dinner last night. Good food (thanks Miranda!) and good friends and a great woman. You can’t beat it. On top of that, Boston won the NBA title last night [in case you hadn’t heard]. I’m Irish and on the East Coast. I enjoyed it, no matter how tired I was.
  • If you’re tee-totaling on coming this Sunday: you need to be here. It’s going to be off the chain. That’s right: no leashes this Sunday. It’s all let loose. Everything’s free to roam. No boundaries. Holding nothing back. [[insert idiom on ‘wildness’ here]] If you’re not in Greenville for this weekend….cop the podcast.
  • Got my new Paste magazine in. Pretty sweet stuff.
  • You’ve got to check out the people from Harmony who are blogging. Check my sidebar at the bottom for a full list. They’re all sharp people with a knack for writing. It’s pretty awesome reading what they have on their minds.
  • The podcast for Father’s day will be up soon!

This Should Be Good…

Justin Boulmay is blogging here and twittering here. He’s a humorous, intelligent, copywriter that recently has joined our church family. Should be interesting…

2:9 - Psalm 40

This Psalm, of TobyMac fame (blegh), is pretty awesome. Here’s my thoughts on it:

  • The Lord has brought us out of destruction!
  • How long do we wait on God? How impatient are we with He who knows the future!
  • This goes back to Pablo’s thoughts on Psalm 51…that the Lord Himself puts a song of praise and worship into our mouths.
  • Don’t live to please people! I cannot say this enough to the people around me, and to myself. Live to please Jesus. Everything else will then fall into place.
  • We can tell our story, but never fully!
  • God does not delight in our sacrifice or offerings, but in our delight in Him! How often do we “offer up” church attendance and religious sacrifices, and neglect the Person for whom the church exists!
  • Let us speak boldly of the Grace given to us by God!
  • He has not restrained His mercy upon His people. He has held us in His hands by the gracious blood of His Saving Son.
  • We are blind not only to our sins, but because of them. They have surrounded us.
  • We do what we hate doing, and we don’t do what we wish to do….our hearts fail us.
  • But God saves us…even from ourselves.
  • Let us not seek Jesus for His salvation and gifts. Let us seek the Giver instead!
