Whew.
Posted in: Church Planting, Harmony Church, GreenvilleSorry about the lack of posts, but, it’s done. The first service of Harmony Church is history. And what a service it was! We really had no expectations, but here’s the rundown.
Worship Set
- Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For (u2)
- Song of the Redeemed (Charlie Hall)
- Spring of Life (Kristian Stanfill)
- Lead Me to the Cross (Hillsong United)
- Come Ye Sinners (Robbie Seay Band)
Message
- From being kicked out of the garden in Genesis 3 to a garden surrounded by a city in Revelation 22. Only by way of the Gardener (John 19-20).
- Pleading with people to follow Christ if they don’t already and if they do, examine their lives for areas that they need to turn over to Christ
Random Notes
- We didn’t take up an offering this service. Didn’t want it to be about money from the get-go. We will definitely teach on money…sometime after Easter, and we will take up an offering every service starting in February.
- We had triple the amount of people involved in Echo Groups show up. I had to meet about 20-25 new people.
- The Daily Reflector showed up (the local newspaper). The reporter, Scott Batchelor, was extremely courteous and was blown away by the turnout and style of the service. You can see some pictures here: link. One of them of me is really bad (I look good only from far away :D)
- Already have to start thinking about weekly services.
- About half stayed for lunch at Dr. Unk’s. We probably doubled, if not tripled, their lunchtime business. Which was good. I’m sure our waitress was paid well for all her troubles :D.
- Jeremy, Josh, and Scott from Dr. Unk’s have been nothing but awesome. We are totally blessed.
- February 24th can’t get here quick enough….but it will be here too quick at the same time.
- Looking forward to seeing some new people in Echo Groups this week.
- I’ll post some things we did right and things we did wrong after our leadership meeting this week.

Posted in: Church Planting, Harmony ChurchSome thoughts…
- Getting our mad marketing blitz on.
- We launched a Facebook campaign today..targeting people in the Greenville area who like a variety of things, both Christian and non-Christian oriented.
- We will post up flyers advertising the service next week!
- We have a drummer!
- Echo Group - Downtown tonight….could be no one, could be many…we’ll see. We’ve still had some couples out lately.
Going to be fun..

Posted in: Church Planting, Harmony ChurchTwo weeks left!
- Yes, I realize I ’skipped’ a day. But you didn’t realize I was counting Sunday as day 1, not day 0. The joke’s on you. (You’ll get it on the way home)
- I’m putting together the manuscript for this month’s message…and wow. Christ really is opening His Scripture. It’s truly been awhile since He has opened it like this to me…He has something huge planned. The last time it was opened to me like this, I got the tale of the two daughters message and the river stones in Joshua 4 message. If you’ve heard ‘em, you know it’s gametime in Greenville.
- If you are thinking “God opens Scripture to me like that everytime I even glance at my Bible”…you obviously aren’t in ministry.
- I’m excited to have Pablo back in town. His lovely lady recently returned to Ireland on missions…bad for him..but we get him back. Godspeed, Jessica. Welcome back, Pablo.
- I’m thinking we’re going to have a decent turnout on the 27th...who knows what God has in store?
- Had breakfast with a guy from work this morning who is going to show. Awesome stuff.
- We have leadership retreat in a week. Stoked about that.
- Go Pack. Go Jags.

17 Days and Counting
Posted in: Church Planting, Harmony ChurchNotes from 17 days out.
- Finally nailed down the Scripture I’m going to be teaching from. This is one of the few times that I’ve had the message before the Scripture. But the message is so woven throughout the book of Mark that it was hard to select a single passage. The message? Christianity is not a religion. More coming later.
- We’re starting with a ‘corny’ series, but it should be fun: Mythbusters. Any ideas?
- I’m excited about the worship set.
- Read the story about how we obtained our space here: Little is Much - Space
- I’m excited about The Whiteboard Sessions, my new commentary (details forthcoming), and our pretty sweet t-shirts coming in.
- Anyone have a good idea for a font to use with a blueprint background?
