Whew.

Sorry about the lack of posts, but, it’s done. The first service of Harmony Church is history. And what a service it was!  We really had no expectations, but here’s the rundown.

Worship Set

  • Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For (u2)
  • Song of the Redeemed (Charlie Hall)
  • Spring of Life (Kristian Stanfill)
  • Lead Me to the Cross (Hillsong United)
  • Come Ye Sinners (Robbie Seay Band)

Message

  • From being kicked out of the garden in Genesis 3 to a garden surrounded by a city in Revelation 22. Only by way of the Gardener (John 19-20).
  • Pleading with people to follow Christ if they don’t already and if they do, examine their lives for areas that they need to turn over to Christ

Random Notes

  • We didn’t take up an offering this service. Didn’t want it to be about money from the get-go. We will definitely teach on money…sometime after Easter, and we will take up an offering every service starting in February.
  • We had triple the amount of people involved in Echo Groups show up. I had to meet about 20-25 new people.
  • The Daily Reflector showed up (the local newspaper). The reporter, Scott Batchelor, was extremely courteous and was blown away by the turnout and style of the service. You can see some pictures here: link. One of them of me is really bad (I look good only from far away :D)
  • Already have to start thinking about weekly services.
  • About half stayed for lunch at Dr. Unk’s. We probably doubled, if not tripled, their lunchtime business. Which was good. I’m sure our waitress was paid well for all her troubles :D.
  • Jeremy, Josh, and Scott from Dr. Unk’s have been nothing but awesome. We are totally blessed.
  • February 24th can’t get here quick enough….but it will be here too quick at the same time.
  • Looking forward to seeing some new people in Echo Groups this week.
  • I’ll post some things we did right and things we did wrong after our leadership meeting this week.
