One-Line Leadership Principles From Acts
Posted in: TeachingI’ve always loved the subtitles/summaries in italics that occur in our Bibles that separate out the different sections. These little one-liners are sometimes accurate, sometimes they aren’t, but they’re usually helpful and can often teach just as well as any other exegetical deliberation. So I’ve decided it would be a little fun to do one book myself, and what better book to do than Acts? Here we go:
Chapter One
The Spirit is worth waiting for.
Chapter Two
The Gospel pervades all of Scripture.
Chapter Three
Jesus left stuff for us to do.
Chapter Four
Guts takes prayer.
Chapter Five
Don’t mess with God’s stuff.
Chapter Six
Focus on what you’re called to do.
Chapter Seven
Preach every sermon as if it’s your last.
Chapter Eight
You never know who’s watching your ministry.
Chapter Nine
Obey God, no matter how silly it seems.
Chapter Ten
God truly has no favorites.
Chapter Eleven
You don’t need a title to be a leader.
Chapter Twelve
Don’t be worshipped.
Chapter Thirteen
God wants to transform entire cities, not just handfuls of people.
Chapter Fourteen
Ministry requires sacrifice.
Chapter Fifteen
Meetings often suck.
Chapter Sixteen
Have a vision for the people, then you’ll have direction.
Chapter Seventeen
Look around with intention.
Chapter Eighteen
There are many of His people in your city.
Chapter Nineteen
Just because someone claims Jesus doesn’t mean He claims them.
Chapter Twenty
The devil is real and spares no one.
Chapter Twenty-One
Well, there are good days and then there are bad days in ministering the Gospel.
Chapter Twenty-Two
Tell your story, but people may not like it.
Chapter Twenty-Three
People will plan your downfall.
Chapter Twenty-Four
Know your community.
Chapter Twenty-Five
Fear no one, including and especially the government, but respect everyone, including and especially the government.
Chapter Twenty-Six
Your testimony and Christ’s truth are our only defense; tell it often.
Chapter Twenty-Seven
Ship happens.
Chapter Twenty-Eight
Welcome all who come, and preach with no restraint.
