Spiderman 3 and The Gospel

A Couple of Reviews of Spiderman 3

First of all, I’m going to say up front that I don’t like Spiderman. And, like Gary, I thought the movie was way too long. I went because two of the potential leaders at Harmony wanted to go. We had a good time, but like I say, Batman kills Spiderman any day of the week. The movie was too long, and it tried to be too many things at once (romance, drama, action-adventure, etc) [sounds like many churches]. However, one great thing I enjoyed was the principle of the movie. I knew where it was headed.

SPOILER ALERT: DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THE MOVIE!!!

Nearing the end of the movie, at the final showdown, Peter Parker (Spiderman) learns that both Venom and the Sandman (is that his name?) are working together against him. He learns that they have something he loves: Mary Jane. But then, he realizes the Gospel: He can’t do it alone. It is at this point I realize the rest of the movie. Spiderman goes to get Harry (the New Green Goblin) to help him. He eventually does after unnecessary drama, and with his aid, they defeat the two villains: at the cost of Harry’s life.

SPOILER END

Sound familiar? Of course. We can’t overcome sin and God’s wrath by ourselves: we need help, and it cost Jesus His life. I love it when God’s creation, and His creation’s creation proclaims absolute Truth at the top of its lungs.

I got to agree… It was WAY to much happening and WAY to long… also very predictable… I agree Batman rocks all over Spiderman…
