The survey data set is complete, and here are some interesting thoughts and notes drawn from the data:
- Harmony Church as a church name was top among non-Christians. Among all survey-takers, Gracepoint Church was the top name. Harmony came in second. I think we’re going to stick with Harmony Church due to it’s cross-cultural appeal. You don’t have to know what grace is to understand it.
- People here in Greenville want to go to church on Sunday morning (11am), no matter their religion, age, race, etc. Sunday morning is reserved for Christians, and people that would go to church recognize this, and want to attend at the same time for the most part.
- People are longing to learn about what Jesus taught. I also found it interesting that a significant number of people wanted to know why Christians are so cross-crazy. What an incredible fact: there are people here who have no idea about the Cross. Man, that excites me!
- An abnormal amount of people here like indie music (Sufjan, Arcade Fire, etc.) That kind of took me off guard, I would’ve thought The Fray would be the most listened to band.
- People don’t go to church because they are busy and they think it’s boring. Two roadblocks in the road to the Gospel.
There you have it, some actual data notes from the field. I think it was a successful venture, and it definitely has paid off so far, just with demographics alone. If you want to know more about my methodology, etc, just email me. Here, again, are the links to the data sets:
Have fun.
